Information Collected Automatically
Boredom may automatically collect:
- Device type, operating system, app version, and language
- IP address, approximate region, time zone, and session identifiers
- Login timestamps, feature usage, notification delivery status, and network status
- Error and crash data, security events, and related service diagnostics
This policy does not assume advertising identifiers or precise device identifiers unless those practices are later implemented.
Location Information
Preferred location
A city, neighborhood, or place selected manually by the user.
Approximate location
A broad area used to show nearby people and activities.
Precise device location
Collected only when a user grants device location permission and uses a feature that requires it.
Users may deny location permission, enter a location manually, change permissions in device settings, and update preferred location in their profile.
Location may be used for nearby discovery, distance calculations, map display, activity locations, and safety or fraud prevention where appropriate.
For private activities, exact activity location may be hidden until approval, and unauthorized users may see only an approximate city or area.
Boredom does not need continuous background location tracking for the MVP.
Information From Third Parties
Authentication providers
Boredom may receive a provider account identifier, name, email, profile image, or authentication status from configured authentication providers.
Mapping or place providers
Boredom may receive place IDs, addresses, coordinates, or place names.
App stores
Boredom may receive installation information, purchase status if payments are introduced, or crash reports.
Other users
Other users may provide information about you through messages, activity invitations, reports, reviews, or uploaded content.

Categories may include hosting, database, authentication, storage, realtime messaging, push notifications, email, maps, analytics, crash reporting, and support.
Legal and safety disclosures
Boredom may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce Terms, investigate fraud, protect users, prevent harm, or defend legal claims.
Business transfers
Information may be transferred during a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, with notice where required.

Users should avoid sharing sensitive information publicly.
Chat Privacy
- Direct and group messages are visible to conversation participants.
- Messages are stored to provide chat history.
- Activity chat access depends on participation status.
- Approved participants may gain access to activity chat.
- Leaving an activity may affect future access.
- Blocking a user may prevent new messages.
- Previously sent messages may remain visible to other participants.
Reported messages and limited surrounding context may be reviewed for moderation, safety, support, or legal reasons. This policy does not claim that all messages are actively monitored or that end-to-end encryption is implemented.
Notifications and Communications
Boredom may send new message notifications, friend request notices, activity invitations, join request updates, reminders, activity changes, safety notices, security messages, product updates, and marketing messages where permitted.
Users may manage push notifications, email notifications, certain categories in Settings, and device-level permissions. Essential security, legal, and transactional communications may still be sent.
Cookies and Website Storage
The website may use local storage, session storage, or essential cookies for core functionality. Analytics cookies may be introduced later if implemented.
This policy does not claim use of cookies or browser storage categories that are not currently implemented.
Analytics and Product Improvement
Boredom may collect usage and diagnostic data to understand feature usage, improve performance, fix crashes, measure reliability, and prevent abuse.
Boredom may introduce privacy-conscious analytics in the future.
Data Retention
Boredom retains data only as long as reasonably necessary for service operation, account management, safety, fraud prevention, legal obligations, disputes, and backups.
- Account information: while the account is active and for 90 days after deletion
- Messages: while needed to provide chat and subject to deletion and legal obligations
- Security logs: for a limited period
- Reports: as needed for safety, enforcement, and legal claims
- Backups: deleted on a delayed cycle
Account Deletion
Users may delete their profile through Settings → Delete my account.
Deletion may remove profile details, friend connections, preferences, access to chats, and activity participation data.
Some data may remain in backups for a limited period, in messages already delivered to other users, where required by law, for fraud or security investigations, in anonymized or aggregated form, or in records needed to resolve disputes.

Boredom does not sell personal information for money. Boredom must separately review whether any future practice could qualify as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising.
International Data Transfers
Service providers may process data outside the user’s country. Where required, Boredom may rely on standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

Boredom uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards that may include encryption in transit, access controls, authentication, row-level database security, secure service providers, monitoring, backups, and least-privilege access.
No online service can guarantee complete security.
Users are responsible for protecting their account credentials.
Fake Profiles, Safety, and Moderation
Boredom may process data to detect fake accounts, detect spam, investigate suspicious activity, review reports, enforce restrictions, and protect users.
Trust signals such as email verification, profile completeness, activity history, mutual friends, and reviews may be displayed to other users.
These signals do not guarantee identity or safety.
Children’s Privacy
Boredom is not intended for children under 18.
Boredom does not knowingly collect personal information from children below the minimum age. If such information is discovered, Boredom may delete the account and related data.
Automated Decisions and Recommendations
Boredom may use automated systems to rank activities, suggest people, calculate match scores, recommend nearby content, and detect spam or suspicious behavior.
These systems may use interests, location, mutual connections, activity history, profile completeness, and recent platform activity. Recommendation outputs may be imperfect.
This policy does not claim that automated systems make legally significant decisions.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This policy may change over time. For material updates, Boredom may update the last-updated date, provide reasonable notice, and request consent where legally required.
Users should review the policy periodically.

Update visible profile details and preferences.

Prevent new interaction from specific profiles.
Flag profiles, activities, or messages for review.
Stop participating in activities when the feature allows.
Remove the profile from Settings when available.
Change device-level location access in system settings.
